What are you hoping to see come out of the new QRO album? What style, topics or sound do you think the band will use? Once complaint about the first QRO album with Todd was that it was too short...another was that the sound was not as high quality as it should or could have been. What do you think about those two gripes when thinking about the new QRO album? (hmmm)

I was never one of the peeps that complained about the length of the new CD. For me, I was simply happy and overjoyed that I had a new QR Album that was written by the actual band members and that they were allowed to play on it. As for what I want in the next album? I came to the band later than many of you. O:MC was my first intro to the band my Junior year of HS. But the moment I heard it, I fell in love with the band and their sound. I want smart insightful song writing. I want a return to the glorious days of two part guitar harmonies. I want thundering double bass and killer vocals as Todd continues to put HIS stamp on the band.

I completely agree with you, Dr. R. I didn't have a problem with the length and was tickled pink to hear my old band coming back to life once again!

I would definitely like a couple of longer, more epic songs and I would love just one song where Todd sings in super, high pitched vocals for the entire song. Something between the way he the same way he sings "Magnetize what you conceptualize because your thoughts become things" and the higher part of the 2nd "SlaaaAAAAAVE" in Fallout. That would be so sweet to hear!

Some longer songs I would agree would be cool. But having Todd continually sing in higher range for an entire song might be tough. Even Geoff in his prime never sang an entire song in high vocal range. It would be a major strain on the male voice. A woman would be more likely to handle it without issues.

I agree with Travis as well. A nice long epic song would be sweet. And maybe I'm alone in this, but I would love if they could find some way to include the ONE TRUE SUITE SISTER MARY, Pamela Moore, in every album going forward.

You are not alone in this idea...I totally agree that at least one duet-style song per album would rock!

For me I wish they would get back to the old style of two guitars. Or more to the point two different guitars interleaving a web of unique differences that sonically build a harmonious backbone. Such as RFO and OMC. The new release is a step in the right direction but it still sounds like just one guitarist, one sound and one style. Parker is a great guy and a great musician but he is a follower, not a leader. He just does not have the ability to provide the guitar partnership dance that MW and CD had. They are stuck in the "I play these notes at this octave, you play the same notes at a different octave" mentality. I like the release but there are so many guitar cluster fucks that it is like finger nails on a chalkboard for me.

I completely hear what you're saying on the dueling guitars. When we hear that...it brings me back to the best music QR ever made! YES, YES, YES!!! I still dream of Chris coming back and being that strong 3rd guitarist...so we could have THREE dueling guitars. Ahhhhh...heavenly!

Songs on the new album were great, the sound quality was ok through hifi, but on my iPod its slightly distorted....

You know, as good as the Self-Titled album is, I almost never listen to it. I don't think I've even listened to it 20 times as of yet. I was hit with other releases last year that just resonated with me in a much bigger way. And while it was great to get some real contribution from Whip on the Self-Titled album, it just didn't feel like the Queensryche experience I was hoping for. I still miss that synergy between Wilton and DeGarmo.
I'm hoping the next album really speaks to me the way Promised Land did, with the power of the music that The Warning has. Something like that would most likely not leave my player for a long time.

Give them time, Rik...they are still settling in with Todd at the helm. It will just keep getting better and better imho.

Don't get me wrong, I love the new lineup, especially live. Seen them 4 times now, but I think maybe I had the bar set way too high for the new album. Maybe I was just too involved last year to appreciate fully the new album. I don't know for sure. The new AIC album stayed in my player most of the year.
