One of my other many favorite bands out there is the band Nightwish. As most NW fans know, Tarja has been gone from the band for quite some time. Anette Olzon had left the band and now they have the remarkable Floor Jansen. She is an amazing singer and a very cool person. Last month she sang on stage with Tarja as a way of smoothing over the drama between Tarja and the band. At least I think so.

Anyway...what do you think about Floor as the new singer for Nightwish? I actually think she's even more suited for the sound of the band.

The reason I fell in love with NW when I first heard them was because of Tarja's amazing opera style vocals. I would love for her to be the singer again, but from what I've read about how NW and Tarja feel, that's not going to happen. I'm glad that she has at least put out some amazing solo albums!

I have to admit, I am completely unfamiliar with NW, the drama involved with the singers, so my opinion wouldn't be proper in this discussion. But if I WAS to want to check out some NW, with what album would you suggest I check out first?

Also, just about every song by NW is streaming on youtube so you can easily check out their songs without any investment on your part.

She blows Tarja out of the water. To me, Tarja's vocals are often hard to understand, where Floor can emulate the sound, but has perfect enunciation. If you haven't read Once Upon A Nightwish, I highly suggest it. It's the most detailed account of the band through Once, and goes through exactly why Tarja was fired.
